Reset a Users Password

Instructions

Users can reset their own passwords through the Joyn Platform by clicking on the "Forgot Your Password" link in the sign in page. They will receive an email and reset their own passwords. (Please note: this can take up to 5 minutes for the User to receive the email)

Within the Admin Tools Dashboard, navigate to 'Users" then 'Users' via the black navigational bar on the left-hand side of the platform.
There are 3 ways for Admin Users to assist Users with their passwords;
1. Admin Users can click the "Send Password Reset Instructions" button in the Users List page which will send an email and allow the User to reset their own password.This function only works if the Notification "reset_password_instructions" is set to true.
2. Admin User to click the "Reset Password" button in the Users List page which will allow the Admin User to set a password for the User. The User can immediately log in with the new password.
3. Admin User to click "Send User a Login Link" button in the Users List page. This function is also called "Magic Link" which sends a User an email with a URL link for them to log in to the Platform and from there they can change their password via the Edit Profile section. This function only works if the Notification "magic_link" is set to true.
  You can set a specific time for this link to be active for, you can find this within Global Setup > Tenants > Tenant Registration Configuration. The recommended duration is 28 days.

There are four scenarios for how a User Password is generated;

Method	Password Creation Process
User creates account while registering for an Event	User sets their own password during the account creation process
User account is created by an Admin User in the admin tools	User receives an email with a link to complete their profile. The User sets their own password while completing their profile.
User account is imported using the import functionality	User receives an email with a link to complete their profile. The User sets their own password while completing their profile.
Admin User Password Reset	User receives communication including their password which has been set by an Admin user.

User's have a password they can login to the Platform with.
